sept 27th

Today in class we learned about longitude and latitudinal lines on a map. we learned about the many many types of time zones and why they are their. This has to do with the earths rotation. this makes sunlight shine on only some parts of the earth at once. We also learned that their are 3 different types of main maps and they are all completely different. we also learned about line of capicorn and the line of cancer. in all we learned about many new features of the map that I never knew.

sept 18th

Today we learned that Geography is the study of where things are found on Earths surface and the reasons for the locations. We also learned that geographers ask themseleves 2 simple questions, "When are people and activities found on earth?", and "Why are they found here?". We also learned Cartography is the science of map making. Maps serve 2 purposes, as a reference tool to identify an objects absolute and relative location, and as a communication tool to convey the distribution of human activities or physical features. The most interesting fact of today was the first world map was prepared by Eratosthenes in 276-194 B.C.

sept 17th

During todays Human Geo. class we took the chapter test for the lessons on "Excellence." The test was pretty easy, but there was a weird questions in it and think more for a answer. The one bonus question about the mountain I knew but couldn't remember. The essay was pretty easy, I did the one on Socrates trial, and death. It was the one essay I think I did good. What I wrote was right because I know everything that happened to him and I remembered more than most of the other stuff in the unit. I feel pretty good in all and hope I wrote enough on the essay. I didn't study but I don't really think I needed to because I payed attention to most of the stuff we got  taught. In all I feel good that I did pretty well on the test.

today

Today we learned about socrates. Socrates was on trial for very strange crimes. One of them was the corruption of Athens youth. Socrates was basically accused of making young kids questions the Greek gods. The other thing he was trialed for was of impiety because he didn't believe in the gods. He was sentenced to death by drinking poison hemlock. socrates and the chance to escape with the guards in on it. The guards let it and socrates refused to leave. They could not persuade him so he drank the hemlock and died a painful muscle tensing death.

Today we learned about "A Message to Garcia". It was published in March of 1899. It got very very popular through the time. There were  forty million copies sold. Due to how popular it was printed in thirty seven languages. It was also made into two movies, one in 1916, and the other in 1936. The phrase "Message To Garcia" was later used as slang in the military. It happened in the middle of the Spanish American War. Garcia was Cuban seeking independence from Spain and Rowan was an army officer. The President was president William McKinley.

My First Day!!!!!

      My first day of high school was good and bad. I woke up very early at 7:15. I got to school at 7:45, and met with all of my friends. I went to bible and was with all my lax boys. After bible I went to health. Then I went to my advisory and my off-mod. I went to the cafe and chilled with my friends. Then we went to lunch then Spanish. In that class I was chewing gum and got a waring to detention. Then I went to English and turned in my summer reading book to Mr.Chalk. I got a 90% on my first grade which I was happy about. Then it was the end of the day. I went to the cafe and got my homework done with my friends. Then at 3:30 I went to football. Football was until 4:30 because it was to hot. That was my first day at The John Carrol school.
